ABOUT THIS MEDICINE
What is Iclusig used for?
ICLUSIG (Ponatinib) is a targeted cancer therapy used to treat chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL).
These cancers are associated with the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome, a genetic mutation linked to uncontrolled cancer cell growth.
ICLUSIG belongs to the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) class of drugs and is specifically designed for patients who are resistant to other treatments, particularly those with the T315I mutation.
By targeting BCR-ABL1 kinase and other tyrosine kinases, ICLUSIG helps block cancer cell growth and spread. It is administered orally in tablet form and should be used under medical supervision.
Regular use may slow disease progression, control leukemia, and extend survival rates.
