ABOUT THIS MEDICINE
What is Increlex used for?
INCRELEX (Mecasermin) is a prescription medicine used to treat children with severe growth failure due to primary IGF-1 deficiency. It provides insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) to support normal growth and development.
This condition can result in stunted growth and significantly impact a child’s height and overall development. INCRELEX works by replacing the missing IGF-1, helping bones and muscles grow properly, promoting height increase, and improving overall growth.
The medication is administered via daily subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection and is prescribed only for children with confirmed IGF-1 deficiency. Treatment must be supervised by a doctor, and blood sugar levels should be monitored to prevent hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
This information is general and is not medical advice. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any treatment decision.
